While exploring the internet, you suddenly get stuck at a point where you are unable to move on. You need to capture or copy the image or, file, or video snaps, etc, to save it in your computer memory. Here comes the usage of screenshots, which let you capture your desired part from the screen. This method of copying and saving a file directly from the screen is also known as a Print Screen. Screenshots can be an image of a single program, the whole screen, or even multiple screens if dual PC is setup.
It is quite normal and simple to take a screenshot on your mobile set. But taking a screenshot of your computer screen can be a little tricky. There are a number of ways to take a screenshot or picture of what’s on your desktop screen. Though taking a screenshot more or less depends on your current Windows version, here are few general ways you may use on any Windows platform.
How to Take a Screenshot
Here are jotted down simple and basic ways to take a screenshot of your computer screen.
- PrtScn: Print Screen button will take the screenshot of the entire screen once pressed and if you have more than one monitor press the PrtScn once and hold for a while. All the screenshots needed will be captured and will be saved as a single image.
- Alt+PrtScn: Press both Alt and PrtScn buttons simultaneously to take a screenshot of a single frame or window. This method is distinct from the earlier as in this method, you need to select the window before hitting the keys to bring the window to focus.
- Win+PrtScn: Newer versions of Windows, such as Windows 8 or Windows 10, use the Win key with the Print Screen key, pressed simultaneously, to take a screenshot of the whole screen. The image will get saved in the default Pictures folder, inside the subfolder named Screenshots. (e.g. C:\Users\[user]\Pictures\Screenshots).
If we see carefully, screenshots are an effective, quick and shortcut method to save a file, folder, clippings or images in your personal computer. Newer versions, like Windows 10, enable the user to use applications such as Snipping Tool, to take a screenshot. Snipping Tool has an upper hand than other methods, since, it can give you the desired portion of an image shown on the screen cut out from the whole image.
